A message from the owner

Thank you for taking a moment to check out my first post on my Skintuition blog!

I wanted to send out a message of gratitude for being a client of Skintuition! Your support means so much to me! I am truly grateful.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Lauren, and I am the owner of Skintuition. I have been an esthetician for almost 18 years now. I have owned my own business for more than half of those years. August 1st, 2018 actually marks my 10thyear as a business owner!

When the business started, I had no idea what I was getting myself in to. Without sharing all the stressful details with you, I learned very quickly that owning a business is HARD! Like, REALLY HARD! I already had all the esthetician stuff down pat- that was the easy part. The hard part was figuring out everything else. I learned all the ‘business stuff’ as I went, and I am still learning something new every day. I am so proud to say that the business has grown every year since.

If you have been a client of mine, you may have noticed that it has become more and more difficult to get an appointment with me, and I apologize for that! I have had to slowly start phasing out of client hours so that I can work on managing and running this growing business. It was becoming much too difficult for me to manage 11 employees, marketing, scheduling, bill paying, inventory, ordering, accounting, client relations, maintenance, reports, & the many other things that come with owning a business. To do all of this AND still be able to provide excellent customer service to my clients was becoming very challenging for me. I was at a point where something had to change because I just could not keep up with it all.

I have recently come to the point that I realized that I need to pull away from working on clients almost entirely. This has been such a tough decision for me because I love my clients, and I love seeing them every month! But, it is a necessary transition for me to make so that I can keep focusing on growing Skintuition and managing it the best way that I can. Starting in August, I will only be seeing clients on Thursday mornings.

I appreciate all of your support with this transition, and I encourage you to set up an appointment with any of the 7 estheticians who work at Skintuition. They truly are the most passionate group, and at the top of their game in the esthetics field! And, stay tuned because we will be adding some more services that they are training on now in the next coming months, as well as making some changes to our current spa menu.

The facial special for August is……..

One of the things that we like to do is offer 1-2 different facial specials every month, to specifically address common concerns that may come up depending on what season/month we are in. In August, we are featuring our O2 lift + Dermaplaning facial! This is quite possibly one of our more popular combos, and people just love to come back and get this treatment!

Once you have dermaplaning done, you kind of get hooked. Dermaplaning removes the dead layers of skin through gentle, physical exfoliation, as opposed to a chemical exfoliation. It also removes fine vellus hair, so your skin is left unbelievably smooth. Don’t worry! Your ‘peach fuzz’ will not grow back thicker! It will grow back exactly the same as it was, rest assured. Another benefit of dermaplaning is that it can diminish the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, and will increase the absorption of skincare products. We LOVE to follow this treatment with our O2 Lift for the ultimate glow! The O2 lift uses a pineapple and papaya enzyme mask, which we vigorously massage into the face to loosen up and roll all those dead skin cells away. We then apply a unique foam burst mask that improves circulation to the skin, while delivering powerful antioxidants that protect against free radical damage. This potent brightening blend reduces pigmentation, and illuminates and brightens the skin. Another plus? This treatment is good for almost all skin types, and can be done in the summer months (please wear your SPF on your face after treatment, and always for that matter!) Its also great for brides, mother of the brides, or for anyone looking for a pre-event glow. Do it 1 day before your event for the smoothest makeup application ever!

Laser Hair Removal- No more packages!

lightsheerOne of the changes that we are making starting in August is a restructure of our Laser Hair Removal Price list. Previously, we offered laser hair removal treatments with a pay-per-session option, and with a package option. Going forward, we are only going to be offering laser hair removal as pay-per-session and do away with packages. Don’t worry if you currently have a laser package– it is not going anywhere! It is still in our system and will remain there until you finish your sessions. But, if you would like to start a new area, or any new clients who begin laser with us will only be pay-per-session. This is great because a lot of people are put off by having to pay up front for an entire laser package. Laser takes a minimum of 6 sessions 6-10 weeks apart and can take more depending on how good (or not good) of a candidate that you are. So, it is important to expect that you will need to do that many sessions to get the best result. But, I think going this way is more appealing in the long run, so clients can just pay as they get their treatments done as opposed to paying it all up front

We also are going to start applying our cancellation/ no show policy to all laser hair removal appointments going forward as well. If you are not familiar with it, let me explain;

We will require a credit card on file when you book an appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment, we need to know by 7pm the previous business day in order to avoid any charges. If you same day cancel your appointment, there will be a charge of 50% of the service fee. If you no show for your appointment, we will charge the entire fee of the service. We will send you a text message to confirm, in order to make sure that you cancel in time if you need to!
